Mira Choi Tyson graduated from the Professional Master’s Level Acupuncture Program of the American Institute of Alternative Medicine in Columbus, Ohio, where she also completed an intensive clinical internship. In addition, she completed an externship at the Beijing Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine in Beijing, China. Mira has also earned certificates in Acupuncture Sports Medicine and Traditional Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation. She is certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and licensed by the State Medical Board of Ohio. Mira has been selected as one of the Best Acupuncturists in Columbus.
Mira grew up in Korea, where acupuncture and herbal medicine have a long history of use and are widely accepted as natural components of integrative medical treatment. All of her life, she has witnessed the amazing ability of acupuncture to cure or manage many health issues without negative side effects. She has also studied medical Qigong and practiced meditation for many years and found these to be invaluable as tools for strengthening mind, body, and spirit. These life experiences led Mira to finally realize her long-time dream of becoming an acupuncturist to educate and assist others on the path to greater physical and emotional well-being. She has successfully treated patients for back pain, shoulder pain, sciatica, fibromyalgia, digestive issues, allergies, stress, insomnia, addiction, menopause symptoms, various sports injuries, cancer treatment side effects, and many other conditions.
Before becoming an acupuncturist, Mira received a BFA from Hongik University in Seoul, Korea, and an MFA from the University of Arizona in Tucson, majoring in metalsmithing and jewelry making. In addition to working as a studio artist, she has taught art and jewelry design at universities in the United States, Korea, and the United Arab Emirates, and her artwork has appeared in exhibitions around the world.
